Reszel Castle is a remarkably well-preserved 14th-century castle of the Warmian bishops. Originally Teutonic, it belonged to the Bishopric of Warmia from 1242. Nicolaus Copernicus administered the estate from this castle 1510-1512.
The 41 m tower offers the best views over all of Warmia and Masuria. Chapel with Gothic vaults. Museum of sacred art + contemporary painting gallery.
Famous story: the last witch burned in Europe (18th c.) — Barbara Zdunk, burned here in 1811. Romantic legend.
