Masuria is the mecca of Polish anglers. 2,700 lakes, Krutynia/Pisa/Czarna Hańcza rivers. 30+ fish species.
MAIN SPECIES: Zander (up to 12 kg) — spawning May, fishing autumn-winter. Eel (up to 4 kg) — night fishing August. Lake whitefish (local endemic) — ice February. Pike (record 24 kg!). Bream, tench, perch.
BEST LAKES: Śniardwy (113 km²) — zander, pike. Mamry (104 km²) — whitefish, zander. Wigry (73 m deep) — Wigry whitefish, zander. Hańcza (108 m deep) — char, trout. Krutynia river — trout.
FISHING PERMIT: Daily 25 PLN, weekly 100 PLN, season 250 PLN. Online (pzw.org.pl) or fishing shop.
FISHING ACCOMMODATIONS: Many agritourisms specialize. Package: stay + boat + guide + fish preparation 350-500 PLN/person/day.
